Honoring the Brave: A Benefit for Tunnel to Towers

Join us for an unforgettable evening dedicated to honoring the sacrifice and service of our nation’s heroes. Honoring the Brave is a special fundraiser supporting the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, helping provide mortgage-free homes to the families of fallen first responders and military service members.

In partnership with Tunnel to Towers Fort Worth and the John Wayne Experience, this event brings together supporters, veterans, and first responders for a night of camaraderie, reflection, and giving back. Your attendance and contributions will make a direct impact on the lives of those who have given everything in service to others.

Join us in honoring their legacy and ensuring that the sacrifice of our nation’s defenders is never forgotten.

John Wayne Grit Series Returns to the Stockyards

Join us on November 8, 2025 for the annual 5K John Wayne Grit Series run in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards! The course starts at the John Wayne: An American Experience exhibit and weaves through the cobblestone streets of the Stockyards to Trinity Trail where you’ll take in views of the downtown Fort Worth Skyline. This run benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, and every step advances the fight against cancer. Bring the whole family… you won’t want to miss it!

Special Exhibition: The John Wayne Gun Collection, the Guns that Won the West

A unique collection of firearms from John Wayne films, spanning over four decades from The Big Trail (1930) to The Shootist (1976). This exhibition is a curated collaboration between John Wayne: An American Experience and the National Firearms Museum (NRA).

Object Highlights:

Remington 1861 New Model Army used by John Wayne in his first starring role, The Big Trail (1930).

Short-barreled large loop Winchester Model 1892 used in True Grit (1969), Big Jake (1971), Rooster Cogburn (1975), and The Shootist (1976).

Cowboys and Indians by Andy Warhol

Step into the vibrant world of Pop Art with Andy Warhol’s iconic Cowboys and Indians portfolio, a captivating set of ten screenprints created in 1986, just a year before the artist’s passing. This collection, presented on Lenox Museum Board, showcases Warhol’s signature style through bold colors and cultural commentary, exploring themes of the American West. Each piece measures 36 by 36 inches (914 by 914 mm) and is part of a limited edition of 250, signed and numbered in pencil by Warhol, with printing by Rupert Jasen Smith and publishing by Gaultney, Klineman Art, Inc. The portfolio features a diverse array of subjects, including Mother and Child, Northwest Coast Mask, Kachina Dolls, Annie Oakley, General Custer, Indian Head Nickel, Geronimo, Plains Indian Shield, Teddy Roosevelt, and the striking John Wayne.
