Join us in the Fort Worth Stockyards as John Wayne: An American Experience celebrates five years in Fort Worth during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.

Celebrate our fifth anniversary in the Fort Worth Stockyards with $5 off museum admission during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (January 16–February 7, 2026). Enjoy in-museum events including live artist demonstrations, the debut of the John Wayne Stock & Supply Fort Worth apparel collection, and Wayne Family Estate wine tastings and Sip & Shop events.

Special Exhibition: The John Wayne Gun Collection, the Guns that Won the West

A unique collection of firearms from John Wayne films, spanning over four decades from The Big Trail (1930) to The Shootist (1976). This exhibition is a curated collaboration between John Wayne: An American Experience and the National Firearms Museum (NRA).

Object Highlights:

Remington 1861 New Model Army used by John Wayne in his first starring role, The Big Trail (1930).

Short-barreled large loop Winchester Model 1892 used in True Grit (1969), Big Jake (1971), Rooster Cogburn (1975), and The Shootist (1976).

Large loop Winchester Model 1892 carbine from True Grit and Rooster Cogburn (1975).

Mattie Ross’ Walker Colt used in True Grit (1969).

Cowboys and Indians by Andy Warhol

Step into the vibrant world of Pop Art with Andy Warhol’s iconic Cowboys and Indians portfolio, a captivating set of ten screenprints created in 1986, just a year before the artist’s passing. This collection, presented on Lenox Museum Board, showcases Warhol’s signature style through bold colors and cultural commentary, exploring themes of the American West. Each piece measures 36 by 36 inches (914 by 914 mm) and is part of a limited edition of 250, signed and numbered in pencil by Warhol, with printing by Rupert Jasen Smith and publishing by Gaultney, Klineman Art, Inc. The portfolio features a diverse array of subjects, including Mother and Child, Northwest Coast Mask, Kachina Dolls, Annie Oakley, General Custer, Indian Head Nickel, Geronimo, Plains Indian Shield, Teddy Roosevelt, and the striking John Wayne.
